Pre- and post-care instructions are vital for maximizing the benefits of facial treatments and ensuring the healthiest possible outcome for your skin. Here’s a general guideline to follow for pre- and post-facial care:

Pre-Facial Care Instructions:

1. Avoid Sun Exposure: Minimize sun exposure for at least 48 hours before your facial to avoid sensitizing your skin. If you must be in the sun, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.

2. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water before your appointment to ensure your skin is well-hydrated. Hydrated skin responds better to facial treatments.

3. Skip Exfoliating Products: Avoid using any exfoliating products (scrubs, AHAs, BHAs, retinols) at least 48 hours before your facial, as they can sensitize the skin and lead to irritation.

4. No Shaving or Waxing: Avoid shaving or waxing at least 48 hours before your facial, especially if you have sensitive skin. This helps prevent any unnecessary irritation.

5. Communicate with Your Esthetician: Inform your esthetician about any skin allergies, sensitivities, or medications you’re taking that could affect your skin’s reaction to the treatment.

Post-Facial Care Instructions:

1. Avoid Sun Exposure: Protect your skin from the sun by applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher daily. Your skin will be more sensitive to the sun after a facial.

2. No Exfoliating or Harsh Products: Avoid exfoliating your skin or using products with AHAs, BHAs, retinols, or other harsh ingredients for at least 72 hours after your facial to prevent irritation.

3. Stay Hydrated: Continue to drink plenty of water to help flush out toxins and keep your skin hydrated.

4. Skip Makeup: If possible, avoid wearing makeup for at least 24 hours after your facial to allow your skin to breathe and fully absorb the benefits of the treatment.

5. No Steam or High Heat: Avoid steam rooms, saunas, and hot showers for at least 48 hours post-facial to prevent irritation and ensure the skin remains calm and cool.

6. Be Gentle: Use gentle, soothing products on your skin for the first few days after your facial. Look for ingredients like aloe, chamomile, and hyaluronic acid that promote hydration and healing.

7. Schedule Regular Facials: For optimal skin health, consider scheduling regular facials every 4 to 6 weeks, depending on your skin’s needs and your esthetician’s recommendation.

Following these pre- and post-care instructions can significantly enhance the effectiveness of your facial treatments, leading to longer-lasting results and healthier skin. Always consult with your esthetician for personalized advice based on the specific treatments you receive and your skin’s unique needs.

What facial treatments do you offer? At New Age Spa, our medical aestheticians offer a variety of body and facial treatments to address nearly every skin condition. From purifying treatments that cleanse the skin of bacteria, dead skin, and sebum to specific treatments targeting acne, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin texture, we have something for everyone.

What can facial treatments do for my skin? Our skilled aestheticians will assess your skin type—whether dry, oily, combination, or sensitive—and choose a treatment that hydrates and heals your skin. By cleansing, exfoliating, and rehydrating the dermal layers, we promote younger, healthier-looking skin for long-term results.

How long does each session last? Facial treatments at our spa are soothing and relaxing experiences that enhance and improve the skin. Appointments typically last 1 hour and 15 minutes, including a comprehensive consultation, double cleansing, exfoliation, facial massage, and application of care ingredients to boost your skin’s blood circulation and address specific needs.

Can I have a facial treatment during the summer? Yes, facial treatments are beneficial for your skin in any season. Professional exfoliation, cleansing, and purification provide effective results that are noticeable almost immediately and last longer. It’s important to care for your skin post-treatment and avoid direct sun exposure. We recommend using an SPF 50 sunscreen and undergoing our professional peeling treatments safely during the summer.

How do I make an appointment? You can schedule your aesthetic treatments in two ways: book online using our easy-to-use online booking system or call us directly.

Is laser hair removal painful? Our medical aestheticians in Montreal use the latest and most effective laser hair removal technology, ensuring most body parts can be treated with minimal discomfort. However, sensitive areas like the bikini line may feel some discomfort during the initial sessions. A topical anesthetic cream can be applied before your treatment to mitigate this.

How often should I get laser hair removal? Laser hair removal is most effective when follicles are in the active growth phase, known as the “anagen” phase. Since hair follicles cycle through growth phases approximately every 28 days, we recommend scheduling your laser appointments every 28 days and avoiding missed sessions for optimal results.

How do I know which facial treatment is right for me? If you’re unsure which skin treatment suits you, don’t worry—a free skin consultation is included with all appointments. Before your treatment begins, a skilled aesthetician will analyze your skin and discuss suitable options. You can also schedule a free 15-minute consultation.

How often should I get a facial? For healthy, glowing skin, we recommend a facial every 48 days or at the start of each season to ensure your skin is balanced and protected from changing elements.

Where is your spa located? Our primary skin care clinics are conveniently located in Montreal and Laval, close to bus and metro stations for easy access, and offer ample parking for clients with vehicles. We serve the greater Montreal area with a 5-star experience and exceptional customer service.

What brands of skincare do you use? We utilize only the best skincare brands, including professional-grade products from Dermalogica and G.M COLLIN, known for their efficacy. These premium cosmetic products are integral to our facial and body treatments, with a selection available for purchase in our cosmetics shop. Additionally, we use Health Canada-approved medical devices to enhance our services.

Do you offer esthetician courses as well? New Age Spa Institute goes beyond offering skin services—we are leaders in aesthetic training. In partnership with professional aesthetic trainers, we have successfully helped students establish themselves as professional aestheticians in Canada. Our courses are advanced, medical-grade, detailed, and practice-focused, including in-class and virtual training sessions.
