You treat your face with the best cleansers, exfoliants, and moisturizers – but how much do you pamper your back?
Especially in the summer months, your back and shoulders will be visible more often than not. It is also the part of the body with the most skin. Yet, it is also one of the hardest places to reach. For that reason, we can’t rely on ourselves to apply specialty serums or masks, and must ask for help from professionals.
A back facial is just like a regular Facial, but..
Quite simply, a back facial treatment is just like a regular “face” facial, except for the location where you receive it. You guessed it – the back. And, instead of lying on your back, you lie on your belly, so the esthetician can work their magic all over that large surface area.
This treatment isn’t just for those prone to back acne or dry skin, but it works great for those as well. A back facial will help smooth out uneven textures and skin tones, while also clearing blemishes, blackheads, and hydrating any hard-to-reach dry areas.
The basics of the back facial
If you have ever received a professional massage, it will be somewhat like this, since much of the skincare products used (including cleanser, exfoliant, toner, and moisturizers) will be applied with massaging motions. But you will also be thoroughly cleansed, exfoliated, and even have any visible papules or pustules extracted, by a professional esthetician.
Typically, the esthetician will help to loosen your pores with a steamer before any extractions and use other electric devices depending on your needs. You can even add on additional services such as a chemical peel or microdermabrasion. A full appointment will likely take about an hour.
At New Age Spa, we offer three different back facial treatments. You can choose between the Basic Back Rescue Facial With Extraction, the Back Rescue Facial With Chemical Peeling, or the Back Rescue Facial With Dermabrasion. Each of these appointments is 50 minutes long.
Beauty shouldn’t end at the face
The back is usually the largest surface area of the average adult, but it is also the hardest to reach. No matter how much care you give your skin, chances are the back area is likely where you miss deep cleansing, exfoliating, and applying skincare products effectively on a regular basis. We often can’t even reach the centre of our backs or even see it. During the day, the back can accumulate sweat, and fabrics will often rub at it. It is pretty common for there to be many back pores clogged up with dead skin cells and dried sebum that will need a little extra effort to clear away if you want to avoid blemishes and comedones.
What you’ve learned
Now that you know what a back facial is, why we offer three different signature versions of them at New Age Spa, and how the treatment is performed, you must agree that it is really the only way to treat your back with the same tender care as you do your face. So this summer, consider opting for a pampering treatment that goes beyond the face. A back facial treatment is a luxuriating experience, leaving you with the smoothest back you may have ever felt.
