Cellulite affects most women regardless of weight or fitness — it is a structural feature of the skin, not a sign of neglect. Non-invasive body contouring can visibly improve how it looks. Here is what actually helps, what does not, and what to expect.
Cellulite treatment in Montreal & Laval.
Cellulite is the dimpled appearance that shows up most often on the thighs, buttocks and upper arms. It happens when fat pushes up against the fibrous bands that tether skin to the muscle beneath, and it affects the majority of women at every body weight — including very lean and very fit ones. That is why diet and exercise alone frequently fail to shift it. At New Age Spa, our approach is Slimwave® EMS + InfraRED body contouring: a non-invasive treatment combining EMS muscle stimulation, infrared and massage rollers, delivered over a series across our four Greater Montreal and Laval clinics. We will tell you honestly at consultation whether it is likely to help you.

What causes cellulite — and how treatment approaches it.
Skin is anchored to underlying muscle by fibrous bands. When fat cells press up between those bands, the surface dimples. Because the cause is structural rather than a matter of weight, cellulite appears on lean bodies as often as on heavier ones — which is exactly why it resists dieting.
Poor circulation and reduced muscle tone in the area make the appearance more pronounced. Slimwave works on both: EMS stimulates muscle contraction while infrared and massage rollers work on circulation in the treated area.
Body treatments are cumulative. A typical protocol runs 6 to 8 sessions, with hydration between visits. One session will not change how an area looks — anyone promising that is selling you something.

Cellulite & body contouring pricing

We are deliberately narrow here. Body contouring is the treatment we offer for the appearance of cellulite, and we would rather explain it properly than list treatments that do not address it.
Our body contouring treatment, combining EMS muscle stimulation, infrared and massage rollers. Applied to the thighs, buttocks, arms or waist over a series of sessions to work on body contour and the appearance of cellulite. Full treatment details.
Treatment is applied to one body area per session. Your consultation determines which area to prioritise — treating everything at once dilutes the result rather than accelerating it.
Adequate hydration between sessions is part of the protocol, not an afterthought. Your esthetician will explain what to do between visits and why it matters.
A health assessment confirms the treatment is appropriate for you before any series begins. This is a genuine screening step, not a formality.
Where stretch marks are also a concern, our stretch marks treatment addresses a different problem and can run alongside.
Sessions have no recovery period. Most clients describe the sensation as a warm, deep massage and return to normal activity immediately.
What body contouring can and cannot do.
Cellulite is one of the most over-promised areas in the industry. Being straight with you about the limits is how we keep clients who come back.
Non-invasive contouring works on how an area looks — smoothness, tone and contour. Over a series, most clients see a visible difference in the treated area.
EMS stimulates muscle contraction in the treated area, which contributes to how firm the surface looks. This is a genuine mechanism rather than a marketing line.
No non-invasive treatment eliminates cellulite permanently. The structural bands causing the dimpling remain. Anyone claiming permanent removal is overstating what is possible.
Body contouring is not a substitute for diet and exercise and will not produce weight loss. It addresses the appearance of a specific area.
Because the underlying structure does not change, results fade without maintenance. Plan for periodic sessions rather than a one-time fix.
How much difference you see depends on your skin, the degree of cellulite, and consistency with the protocol. Your consultation is where we give you a realistic answer for your body.
Who body contouring suits — and who should consult first.
The areas where cellulite most commonly appears, and where treatment is most often requested. One area is treated per session.
If you are already active and eating well and an area has not changed, that is the classic profile — because cellulite is structural, not a fitness failure.
Many clients come after pregnancy. There is no problem with that, but timing matters and should be discussed at consultation.
Body contouring is offered to everyone. Cellulite is far more common in women due to differences in connective tissue structure, but the treatment itself is not gender-specific.
The clients happiest with this treatment are the ones who wanted an area to look smoother — not the ones who were promised cellulite would disappear.
Because results are cumulative, this suits people who can commit to 6–8 sessions. If you cannot, say so at consultation and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth starting.
A health assessment is completed before any series begins. Body contouring is not appropriate during pregnancy, or for clients with certain implanted medical devices, active infections, or some circulatory conditions — EMS in particular has real contraindications. Tell our team about any medical condition or device at consultation. Our complimentary body consultation exists to establish whether this treatment is safe and worthwhile for you specifically.
Cellulite treatment vs. the alternatives.
Most of what is sold for cellulite does very little. Knowing which is which saves money.
Topical creams cannot reach the fibrous bands and fat structure that create the dimpling — they act on the surface of the skin only. Some temporarily tighten or hydrate, which can make skin look marginally smoother for a few hours. As a treatment for cellulite itself they do not work, and the category is one of the most over-marketed in skincare.
Exercise builds muscle and reduces fat, both of which can improve how an area looks — and it is unambiguously good for you. But because cellulite is caused by connective-tissue structure rather than by excess weight, lean and athletic people have it too. Treatment complements fitness rather than replacing it, and we will say so plainly.
Surgical and injectable options exist for cellulite and can produce more dramatic change, at the cost of downtime, expense and medical risk. We do not offer them. Non-invasive contouring sits at the other end: no downtime, lower cost, more modest results delivered over a series. Choose according to how much change you actually want.
What to expect — session by session.
A typical protocol runs 6 to 8 sessions. Here is the honest progression rather than a before-and-after promise.
We assess the area, review your health history for contraindications, and tell you what degree of change is realistic. If we do not think you will be happy with the result, we will say so.
Sessions are 30–60 minutes with no downtime, described by most clients as a warm, deep-tissue massage. Do not expect visible change yet — this stage is establishing the protocol.
This is where clients typically start noticing the treated area looking smoother and more toned. Progress is gradual and area-specific, which is why we treat one region at a time.
Across 6–8 sessions the cumulative effect is what produces the visible difference. Hydration between sessions is part of the protocol and does affect the outcome.
The structure causing cellulite does not change, so results fade without upkeep. Periodic maintenance sessions hold the improvement; your esthetician will suggest an interval based on what you saw.

Cellulite is the treatment category where clients are most often oversold. Our approach is to explain the mechanism, offer the one treatment we believe in for it, screen for safety, and be clear about what a series will and will not do. That is why clients complete their protocols and come back.
