What causes aging?
Aging of the skin is a result of natural causes and external factors. The deeper layers of the epidermis contain collagen and elastin. These are fiber cells responsible for the elasticity and suppleness of the skin, making it plump and bounce back to the touch. With age, levels of these essential components will decrease. Moreover, inevitable exposure to the sun and pollution will further degrade the skin with time and lead fine lines, dullness, wrinkles and visible signs of ageing.
What is included in an Anti-aging facial?
Experts in our Montreal and Laval beauty clinics will begin your anti-ageing facial or body treatment with a full skin analysis. Looking for conditions like dry skin, broken capillaries, age spots, fine lines and wrinkles, we will prepare the proper age-defying plan for your skin.
Cleansing—an anti-aging facial will involve cleansing using a mechanical or chemical exfoliant, usually combined with facial steaming. A chemical peel can be part of the facial cleansing process. It is generally an upgrade and done in a series of steps.
If necessary, your aesthetician will include an Extraction of blackheads or whiteheads as well. In some cases, untreated ageing skin can have large blackheads, and we will take care of that. All anti-aging facials will include an invigorating lifting massage that focuses on tightening and lifting your cheeks, eye area, jawline and forehead.
How often should you get an anti-aging facial?
In general, we recommend undergoing an anti-aging facial every month. This process will ensure effective stimulation of your skin’s cell activity, just like going to the gym, but for your face. If your budget doesn’t allow for that, have a facial at least four times a year, before every season.
How Effective Are Anti-Aging Facials?
Anti-ageing facials are very effective and can make you look years younger. The earlier you address signs of ageing, the easier it is to maintain results. Anti-ageing facials and skin can be more effective in combination with technologies like LED light, laser, dermabrasion and micro-needling, which boost collagen.
